FAIRPORT ASSET MANAGEMENT NAMED ONE OF BEST-MANAGED REGISTERED INVESTMENT ADVISORY FIRMS BY SCHWAB INSTITUTIONAL

Cleveland, Ohio October 21, 2005 – Fairport Asset Management, LLC today announced that it was named one of the Best-Managed Firms in Schwab Institutional’s recent Schwab Market Knowledge ToolsTM (MKT) report titled, “Best-Managed Firms: Recruiting and Retaining Top Talent.” Schwab Institutional is a leading provider of custodial, operational and trading support for independent fee-based investment advisors. Fairport was one of 27 firms selected from among the participants in the 2005 Financial Planning Association (FPA) Compensation and Staffing Study conducted by Moss Adams LLP.

The firms were acknowledged for their approach to successful human capital management, achieved by an ongoing recruitment of talent, a focus on employee retention and maintaining a culture of opportunity and respect.  Excellent communication with employees, competitive compensation, and a clear and structured career path were among the characteristics exhibited by the top firms.

Methodology

The Best-Managed Firms were selected from 464 participants in the Financial Planning Association 2005 FPA Compensation and Staffing Study conducted by Moss Adams LLP. Of those participants, the 283 firms that generated at least 75% of their revenues in fiscal year 2004 from fees were considered for Schwab’s Best-Managed Firms list.
